Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked US President Donald Trump for his Diwali greetings and a phone call. PM Modi emphasised the enduring partnership between India and the United States, describing both nations as “two great democracies.”  This exchange comes as Trump celebrated Diwali at the White House and praised PM Modi as a “great friend.”

PM Modi thanks Trump for warm Diwali wishes

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged President Trump’s phone call and festive greetings. “Thank you, President Trump, for your phone call and warm Diwali greetings. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to illuminate the world with hope and stand united against terrorism in all its forms,” PM Modi posted.

Trump celebrates Diwali at White House 

Trump hosted a Diwali celebration at the White House on Tuesday (local time), where he extended heartfelt wishes to the people of India and Indian-Americans. Speaking at the event, Trump said: “I just spoke to your Prime Minister today. Had a great conversation. We talked about trade… and no wars with Pakistan and India. That was a very, very good thing.”
